Dr. Yael Cukier is a clinical neuropsychologist with a wealth of experience assessing and treating individuals from across the lifespan. She most recently served as the director of Pediatric Neuropsychology within the Department of Neurology at Cohen Children’s Medical Center, part of Northwell Health, where she evaluated children with a range of neurological, psychiatric, and developmental disorders. Prior to that, she held a position within the Department of Neurology at North Shore University Hospital, where her work focused on both pediatric and adult assessment. Dr. Cukier has lectured extensively on a variety of topics, including cognition through aging, assessment of individuals with epilepsy, and evaluation/treatment of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder. She has given multiple pediatric neurology grand rounds as well as community lectures.
In addition to assessment, Dr. Cukier has training and experience in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders. Her focus is on evidence-based treatment approaches, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), combined with mindfulness and relaxation practices. Dr. Cukier is originally from Long Island, New York. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, she completed her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University. She then obtained postdoctoral training in clinical neuropsychology at the Cushing Neuroscience Institute at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Presently, she sees patients in private practice in both Cedarhurst, Manhattan and New York.
